June is the new January – or so the healthy team tells me. It makes sense – a midyear chance to form new resolutions seems more likely to bring success than those made in the New Year frenzy. Not only are we calmer and more able to reflect on what really matters, but we’re more likely to stick to resolutions made in the sunshine than in the gloom of January.
Yes, there’s the harsh reality, too – we’ll soon be entering that odd two-week period when we appear in front of strangers in what is basically our underwear (AKA a beach holiday). And, while some commentators like to dismiss the way magazines, including this one, help women get ‘slim for summer’, I see no contradiction in being intelligent, interesting and funny – and still wanting a fit, strong, healthy body.
In this issue then we have the Glow Diet, page 93, which will not only get you that beach body but also radiating vitality. Body confidence is more about the fitness of your brain than your bottom and our feature, page 30, gives you the tools to get there. Plus, we have deliciously healthy recipes (vegetarians no longer need to feel wistful on barbecue days, page 86) and fitness inspiration (page 104) to make living healthy the easy, enjoyable choice – every day.
